let the pressure of N2O5 decease by 2x atm.

As two Mole of O2 decompose to give two moles of N2O4 ,and one Mole of O2 , the pressure of N2O5 increases by 2x atm and that of O2 increase by x atm..

pt = pN2O5 +pN2O4+pO2

=(0.5-2X)+2X+X=0.5

X=pt-0.5

pN2O5=0.5-2X=0.5-2(pt-0.5)=1.5-2pt

=(0.5-2x)+2x+x=0.5+x

x=pt-0.5

pN2O5=0.5-2X=0.5-2(pt-0.5)=1.5-2pt

At,t=100s;pt=0.512atm

pN2O5=1.5-2×0.512=0.476at.

Thus,k=2.303/t log pi/pa

2.303/100s log 0.5atm/0.476atm

2.303/100s×0.0216=4.98×10^-4 s^-1
