Answer: The shortcut method of solving :

7 \frac{1}{12}  + 3 \frac{1}{3}  \\ =  (7 + 3) + ( \frac{1}{12}  +  \frac{1}{3} ) \\  = 10 + ( \frac{1 + 4}{12} ) \\  = 10 \frac{5}{12}

Or,

7 \frac{1}{12}  + 3 \frac{1}{3}  \\  =  \frac{85}{12}  +  \frac{10}{3}  \\  =  \frac{85 + 40}{12}  \\ =  \frac{125}{12}  \\  = 10 \frac{5}{12}
