1. On mixing a solution of barium chloride with sodium sulphate, a white precipitate of barium sulphate is immediately formed. These reactions are ionic in nature. The reactants changes into ions when dissolved in water and there is an exchange of ions in solution.

2. Addition of sodium hydroxide to lead nitrate solution initially gives white precipitate which solublizes in excess of NaOH added.

3. Excess ammonium hydroxide solution is added to lead nitrate solution. Insoluble chalky white ppt of lead hydroxide is obtained. 38. Alkali metals are good reducing agents.
