Question:

In the given figure, ray AB// ray CD. Find the value of x

Given:

  • AB//CD

To Find:

  • x

Step-by-step explanation:

hai friend, hope this will help you, so without wasting time, let's jump into it!

First, we want to the figure given a little, so for that,

I am extending the ray CD backward and doing the same thing with AE. you can look it in the attached file:)

now from the new figure, we can say that

AngleBFG = AngleABE = 120       ( AB//CD and they are alternate angles)

and , AngleEFC = 180 - 120 = 60       ( supplementary angles; the sum of angle in a straight line is 180)

now,

AngleECF = 180 - 100 = 80   ( supplementary angles; the sum of angle in a straight line is 180)

So,

now In triangle ECF,

x + AngleECF + AngleEFC = 180 ( sum of angles in a triangle is 180)

x + 80 + 60 = 180

x + 140 = 180

x = 180 - 140

x = 40

Hope this helps you!

Thanks
