  • CD = 1/3 BC

To Find :-

  • Sin x/ Sin y x Cos x/ Cos y

Solution :-

TO KNOW :

1. \:  \boxed{ \sf {sin \:  \theta =  \frac{opp}{hyp} }} \\  2. \:  \boxed{ \sf {cos \:  \theta =  \frac{adj}{hyp} }}

So, Sin x = AC/AD and Sin y = AC/AB

and Cos x = CD/AD and Cos y = CB/AB

  \sf{Hence \:  \frac{sin \: x}{sin \: y}  \times  \frac{cos \: x}{cos \: y} } \\  \\  =   \sf{ \frac{\frac{AC}{AD}}{ \frac{AC}{AB} } \times  \frac{ \frac{CD}{AD} }{ \frac{CB}{AB} }  } \\  \\  = \sf{  \frac{AB}{AD}  \times \frac{AB}{AD} \times  \frac{CD}{CB} } \\  \\   = \sf{  \frac{AB}{AD}  \times \frac{AB}{AD} \times  \frac{ \frac{1}{3} CB}{CB} }  \\  \\ = \sf{  \frac{AB}{AD }  \times \frac{AB}{AD} \times  \frac{1}{3} }  \\  \\    \star \: \underline{\boxed{  \sf{ =  \frac{ {AB}^{2} }{3 {AD}^{2} } }}}  \: \star
