Explanation:

if train stop final velocity (v) =0

a=-5(retardation)

v=u+at

0=u+(-5)40

-u=-200

u=200m/s

s=ut+1/2at^2

s=200×40+1/2×-5×(40)^2

s=8000+1/2×-5×1600

s=8000+(-4000)

s=8000-4000

s=4000m

To find:-

Initial Velocity (u) = ?

Distance (s) = ?

Given,

acceleration (a) = -5 m/

final velocity (v) = 0 m/s

time taken (t) = 40 second .

Solution:-

v = u + at \\  =  > 0 = u + ( - 5 \times 200) \\  =  > 0 = u - 200 \\  =  > u = 200  \frac{m}{s}

And

s = ut +  \frac{1}{2}  \times a {t}^{2}  \\  =  > s = 200 \times 40 +  \frac{1}{2}  \times  - 5 \times  {40}^{2}  \\  =  > s = 8000 - 4000 \\  =  > s = 4000meter
