The reasons for the rise of trading and port towns were as follows:

1. The demand for the products like cotton and spices not only within India but in foreign countries.

2. The exclusive handicrafts products also became a growing opportunity for trade.The notable was the inlay work in copper and silver from Bidar in Andhra Pradesh.

3.India is also very rich in minerals which opened routes for trade.
