Mineral resources are limited. Ittakes million of years for their formation and therefore, these resources are non-renewable and non-replenishable. Increasing consumption and continued extraction of ores lead to increasing costs of extraction and a sharp decrease in their quality and quantity. So, it is most important for us to conserve mineral resources as it is feared that with this rateof consumption the day is not far away when most of the metallic and non-metallic mineral reserves and fossil fuel deposits will be fully exhausted.

We need to conserve mineral resources ---->

Minerals are finite and non- renewable. The process of mineral formations takes a million of years. There is also no balance between the rate of replenishment and and rate of consumption, while the rate of consumption is very high, the rate of replenishment is too slow.

Continuation of the present rate of extraction of minerals will lead to increase in costs and minerals lose their quality when they are extracted from large depth.
Hence, the mineral extraction should be done in sustainable manner. Recycling the minerals, using scrap metals, and substitutes in place of minerals will help in this process.
