Let  g(x) be (x-2)

Let  p(x) be 2x3 +ax2 +3x-5

Let  f(x) be x+ x-4x+a

Zero of p(x) is –

x-2=0

x=2

p(x)=2x3 +ax2 +3x-5

p(2) = 2(2)3 +a(2)2  +3(2) -5

p(2)= 16 + 4a+ 6 -5

p(2)=16+1+4a

p(2)=17+4a

f(x)=  x+ x-4x+a

f(2)= (2)+(2)2 -4 (2) +a

f(2) = 8+4-8+a

f(2)= 4+a

ATQ

f(2) = p(2)      (remainders are same)

4+a=17+4a

a-4a= 17-4

-3a = 13

a = -13/3
