(1)x -2 = 7

According to the question:

 \sf \implies \: x - 2 = 7 \\   \sf \implies \: x = 7 + 2 \\   \sf \implies \: x = 9

Hence, x is equal to 9.

(2) 3/7 +x = 17/7

According to the question:

 \sf \implies \:  \frac{3}{7}   + x =  \frac{17}{7}  \\  \sf \implies \: x =  \frac{17}{7}  -  \frac{3}{7}  \\  \sf \implies \: x =  \frac{17 - 3}{7}  \\   \sf \implies \: x =  \frac{14}{7}  \\  \sf \implies \: x = 2

Hence, x is equal to 2.
