Pythagorean triplets actually are the sides of a right angle triangle....The largest number in the triplets is the hypotenuse and the other numbers in the triplets are Perpendiculars(height) and Base...
By pythagorean properties.... Sum of the squares of the two sides in a right angle traingle is equal to the squares of the largest side...
i.e, square of Hypotenuse = square of Perpendicular + square of Base
In order to check whether the three nimbers are triplets or not...simply use pythagorean properties mentioned above....
suppose we have to check 3 , 5 , 4 whether a pythagorean triplets or not...
here the largest number is 5
Make square of it...5 square = 25
Now find the sum of squares of other two number as shown below..
3 square + 4 square = 9 + 16 = 25
see what we get...
5 square = 3 square + 4 square
25 = 9 + 16
here LHS = RHS... So 3 , 5 , 4 are pyhtagorean triplets...
Lets check whether 5,7,9 are pythagprean triplets or not...
largest number is 9 here..
9 square = 5 square + 7 square(pythagorean property)
81 = 25 + 49
here LHS is not equal to RHS...Hence 5,7,9 is not a pythagorean triplets...
Hope this help.....
