Solving by quadratic formula,

x = -$b$±√$b^{2}$$-4ac$/$2a$

=> x = -(-1)±√1-(4)(6)(-2) / 12

=> x = 1±√49 / 12

=> x = 1+7/12    or, x = 1-7/12

=> x = 8/12     or, x = -6/12

=> x = 2/3    or, x = -1/2

Hence, roots of the given quadratic equation are 2/3,-1/2.
