1: carbon has the character of isomerism because of which it can form branched as well as straight chains. carbon tends to fulfill its tetra valency and hence it can form large no. of compounds

3: the unsaturated are more reactive as they tend to become saturated compounds by forming single bond.

  1. Carbon forms largest no of compounds due to its property of Catenation and it's small size.
  2. Carbon compounds are divided into Saturated and Unsaturated compounds on the basis of their bond formation, if they form single bond Hydro-carbon chain they are Saturated but if they form more than one bond they are called Unsaturated compounds.
  3. Unsaturated is more reactive than Saturated compound.

Hope it helps.

Cheers!!

tabassumkhan9177: Plz answer that (b) bit too
dishasingh2: 1: carboxylic acid
dishasingh2: 2:ether . im not sure about this second
swashri27: ii) I think it aldehyde.
dishasingh2: but in aldehyde oxygen should be bonded with double bond. can u send me the structural formula if it is aldehyde. plz
swashri27: Yeah it is connected in double bonds
swashri27: It is aldehyde just try to expand it yourself
dishasingh2: okay
tabassumkhan9177: Ok
