Let, the numbers are x and y.

Then,
 \frac{x + y}{2}  = 15 \\ or \: x + y = 30
............(i)
and
 \sqrt{xy}  = 9 \\ or \: xy = 81
...........(ii)

From (i) and (ii), we eliminate x.

Then, from (ii), we write -
y(30-y) = 81
or \: 30y -  {y}^{2}  = 81 \\ or \:  {y}^{2}  - 30y + 81 = 0 \\ or \: (y - 27)(y - 3) = 0 \\  \\ so \: y = 27 \: or \: y = 3

From (i), we get -
x = 3 or x = 27.

So the numbers are 27 and 3; 3 and 27.
