so let us take the probability of WHITE marble as 'x'

so the equation would be

x + \frac{1}{3} + \frac{4}{9} = 1

x + \frac{3+4}{9} = 1

x = 1 - \frac{7}{9}

x = \frac{9-7}{9} = \frac{2}{9}

so the probability of white marble is

\frac{2}{9}

so now let consider the total number of marble as 'x'

 probability = \frac{x}{54}

\frac{2}{9} = \frac{x}{54}

9x = 54×2

x = \frac{108}{9}

x = 12

hence total number of white marbles were 12
