You can actually just Trial and Error it.

The answer is D since the digits differ by 3, 8 - 3 = 5. When we say differ by 3, it basically means that the digits have a difference of 3. It did not specifically say which digit is higher. All of the choices differ by 3 but only 1 number when interchanged gives a sum of 143.

And when switched then added.. 85 + 58 = 143.

Mark thanks if it helped!

Let the tens place digit be x and unit place be y
Original Number = 10x +y
According to the question
x-y =3 ....(1)
and
10x+y +10y+x =143
11x +11y =143
x+y = 13 ....(2)
Add equation (1) and (2), we get
2x =16
x = 8
Substitute the value in equation (1)
8-y =3
-y = 3 -8
-y = -5
y=5
Original Number = 10x +y = 10(8)+5= 85
