yes we take a example 2+√3 here 2 is an rational number and √3 is an irrational number but as we know that 2+√3 is an irrational number

Yes the number x + y is necessarily irrational.

This is because it has an irrational component in it

Like

Let x be 2 and y be √3

Therefore 2 + √3 is irrational

Again
Lets take x as 7 and y as 5√2

So 7 + 5√2 is irrational

Lets check it out again

Let x be 2 and y be √13

So 2+√13 is irrational
