HI !

What is pythagoras theorem ?
Ans: Square of hypotenuse is equal to the  sum of the square of other two sides.

In the figure ,
Given , BC = BD

Applying pythagoras theorem,
In Δ ABD ,

AD² = AB² + BD²
BD² = AD² - AB²
       = 9² - 5²
       = 81 - 25
       = 56 m
BD = √56 m
      = 2√14 m

we know that BD = BC

hence,
BC = 2√14  m

----------------------------------------------------------------

Also,
In Δ ABC,

AC² = AB² + BC²
       = 5² + (2√14)²
       = 25 + 56
       = 81

AC = √81
      = 9 m

hence,

AC = 9 m
