Structure Of Atmosphere

Atmosphere is consist of different layers varying different density and different temperatures. Density of atmosphere is greatest at the surface of earth and keep decreasing with increasing altitude. It can contains dust particles and water vapours.

The column of atmosphere is divided into 5 different layers, they are:

  1. Troposphere
  2. Stratosphere
  3. Mesosphere
  4. Thermosphere
  5. Exosphere

Troposphere:- It is lowermost layer of atmosphere. It's about 13km high and extends upto 18km near poles and 8km near the equator.

Stratosphere:- It is found above the troposphere and extends upto 50km. It contains ozon layer which protects us from UV rays and shield the earth from harmful radiations.

Mesosphere:- It can extends upto 80km above the stratosphere. There, temperature starts decreasing with the increasing altitude (100°C).

Thermosphere:- The layer which divides thermosphere from mesosphere is called mesopause.

Exosphere:- The highest and uppermost layer of atmosphere. Found around at the height of 400km from surface of earth.
