Play India Sports Facility for Youth Inaugurated in Chennai City

The Tamil Nadu State Minister for Sports and Youth affairs,  Shri. Kumaraswamy,  inaugurated the Play India sports facility for youth in Chennai on Sunday. the 4 April 2020. The full-fledged sports facility comprising track and field stadiums, football stadiums, baseball stadiums, swimming pools, and Indoor arenas along with a complete team of trainers  and coaches has started functioning now.

Shri Kumaraswamy said that  the steps taken towards the improvement of sports infrastructure and changes in the sports sector in recent years had started yielding results. He further said that “We must no longer be satisfied with only a few medals in Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World championships, and Asian Games and we must make use of such sports academy to train the youth aspiring to become sportsmen/sportswomen so that they go ahead and make India proud by winning several medals for India"

Celebrity sports personalities Mary Kom (boxing), Para-Athlete Champion Deepa Malik, MS Dhoni (Cricket), Deepa Malik ( Gymnast), among others were present at the inauguration. They too encouraged aspiring sportsperson to make use of their potential to the fullest and also talked about their idea of fitness in making the new India

Apart from training people aspiring to become sports persons, the newly opened sports facility will also train people from poor background but who have the burning desire to accomplish in the field of sports, free of cost. Moreover, the benefits of sports facility not only help the body, but they also create a less-stressed mind. Besides, at the sports facility we can hold large tournaments both at the national and international level
