Solution:

The given equations are

  • 8x + 5y = 9 .....(i)
  • 3x + 2y = 4 .....(ii)

Multiply (i) by 3 and (ii) by 8. We get

  • 24x + 15y = 27
  • 24x + 16y = 32

On subtraction, we get

  • y = 5

Putting y = 5 in (i), we get

  • 8x + 25 = 9
  • or, 8x = - 16
  • or, x = - 2

Answer: required solution is x = - 2, y = 5.

Answer:

8x+5y=9-------------------1

3x+2y=4-------------------2

multiply equation 1 with 2,

16x+10y=18----------------------3

multiply equation 2 with 5,

15x+10y=20

By elimination,

16x+10y=18

15x+10y=20

----------------------

x= -2

y=3 x -2+2y=4

y= -6+2y=4

2y=4+6=10

y=10/2=5

Step-by-step explanation:

x= -2

y=5
