See...

Given distance travelled by the rider is 536 km.

In this 536 km he travels in two different speeds, 47 km/h and 43 km/h.

47 km/h means he travelled 47 km per an hour. So the question says he travelled in that speed for 5 hours. So the distance?? 5(hours)*47(speed)=235 (distance)...

getting me??

so he travelled 235 km in 5 hours at the speed 47km/h.

Now the remaining distance is 536-235= 301 km

We don't know how much time(x) he took to travel this distance but we do know the speed i.e., 43 km/h

so X(hours)×43(speed)=301(distance)

X=301/43

X=7

therefore, he took seven hours.
