★ Question

to prove that

(a,a²) ( b,b²) ( c,c²) will not be collinear .

★ Answer

three points be collinear

when area of the triangle formed by meeting of all three points = 0

Given points ; A(a , a²) , B( b, b²) and C( c, c²)

area (ᐃABC )

= (1/2) [a( b² - c²) + b(c² - a²) + c(a² - b²)]

=( 1/2) [ab² - ac² + bc² - ba² + ca² - cb² ]

= (1/2) [ ab(b - a) + bc(c - b) + ca(a - c)]

clearly ; area (ᐃABC ) = 0

i.e;

the area of triangle be zero

when a = b = c

but a ≠ b ≠ c it is given

so area of the area (ᐃABC ) can't be zero

therefore ,The points A(a , a²) , B( b, b²) and C( c, c²) will not be collinear.

Hence ; proved
