Given,

Diameter of Circular track = 200 m

Then,

Radius = 100 m

As given in question athlete took 40 s to complete one round.

Convert :-

=> 2 min 20 s = 120 + 20 = 140 s

Now,

No. of rounds in 140s = 140/40 = 3.5

Again,

Distance transversed = No. of Rounds x Area of Circular track

 \implies S = (3.5 \times 2 \times \pi \times r)

 \implies S = (3.5 \times 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7} \times 100) m

 \implies S = <strong>2200</strong><strong> </strong><strong>\</strong><strong>:</strong><strong>m</strong><strong> </strong>

Hence, Distance transversed = S = 2200 m.
