Some rules for direct speech - indirect speech if reporting verb is in past tense then in reported sentence :

Simple past                     -                   Past perfect

Note :

If reporting verb is in present form or in future form , then there will be no change in reported sentence in indirect speech. EX : In the above question, all the reporting verbs in direct speech sentences are in present form, so there was no change in the form of verbs in indirect speech - reported sentences.
