We can boil water in a paper cup on a spirit lamp. The heat of the spirit lamp can cause the paper cup to catch fire but it doesn't . The heat is passed onto the water present in the paper cup..So , the ignition temperature of the paper is not achieved and hence it doesn't catch fire easily..
