e) \frac{8}{-15} + \frac{-1}{15}

Now as the the negative sign is in the denominator of the first rational number (8/-15). V can take the negative sign on the numerator. \frac{-1}{1} = \frac{1}{-1}

= \frac{-8}{15} + \frac{-1}{15}

As the denominators r same, it is easy to solve.

\frac{-8 + (-1)}{15} = \frac{-9}{15}  (Negative + Negative = Positive)

As 9 and 15 r both divisible by 3, v can reduce it to its simplest form.

\frac{-9}{15} = \frac{-3}{5}

Final answer:

\frac{8}{-15} + \frac{-1}{15} = \frac{-3}{5}
