The Directive Principles are at best guidelines to the state, while Fundamental Rights are basic rights of every Indian Citizen- they cannot, be eclipsed on by anything. There is no sacrifice for "greater good" or development in India. The Constituent Assembly did not want to make our nation a police state. we are a Democratic Republic. and for that republic to be so, every citizen must be guaranteed his rights.
