kx² + 1 - 2(k-1)x + x² = 0
(k+1)x² - (2k-2)x + 1 = 0
a = (k+1), b = (-2k+2), c = 1
as roots are equal,
discriminant = 0
b² - 4ac = 0
b² = 4ac
(-2k+2)² = 4(k+1)(1)
4k² + 4 - 8k = 4k + 4
k² + 1 - 2k = k + 1
k² - 3k = 0
k² = 3k
k = 3

gauriporwal: if k^2=3k. then k=+-√3k
rohanharolikar: then you get k = ±√3k
rohanharolikar: to get an absolute value for k then cancel k fron both sides
rohanharolikar: thanks for selecting as brainliest
Parthiv1111: your process is wrong
gauriporwal: his proceed is right but he made some mistakes in last step
