Here, x + y = 9. ....(1)

x × y = 20. ....(2)

(I)

 {x}^{2} +  {y}^{2} =  {(x + y)}^{2} - 2xy

 {x}^{2} +  {y}^{2} = 81 - 40 = 41

(II)

 {x}^{3} +  {y}^{3} =  {(x + y)}^{3} - 3xy(x + y)

 {x }^{3} +  {y}^{3} = 729 - 60 \times 9

 {x }^{3} +  {y}^{3} = 729 - 540 = 189
