Let length of canvas be x.
Height of the military tent(H) = 8.25m
Height of the cylindrical part (h) = 5.5 m
Diameter of cylindrical tent = 30m
Radius of base of cylindrical part = Radius of base of the conical part = 30/2 m = 15m
Height of conical part(h1) = 8.25m - 5.5m = 2.75m

Slant height (l) of conical part
= square_root (2.75^2 + 15^2) m
= 15.25 m

Length of canvas = x
Breadth of canvas = 1.5m

Now,
Surface area of the canvas = length × breadth
=> CSA of cone + CSA of cylinder = x × 1.5m
=> pi×r×l + 2×pi×r×h = x × 1.5 m
=> pi×r (l + 2h) = x × 1.5m
=> 22/7 × 15m (15.25m + 2 × 5.5m) = x×1.5m
=> 330/7 m (15.25m + 11 m) = x×1.5m
=> 330/7m × 26.25m = x×1.5m
=> 8662.5/7 m = x×1.5
=> 1237.5/1.5 m = x
=> x = 825 m
Therefore length of the canvas used is 825m
