largest number=7x
thrice the largest number=3×7x=21x
twice the smallest number=2×4x=8x
sum of these two=87
21x+8x=87
29x=87
x=87/29
x=3
therefore
smallest number=4x=4×3=12
largest number=7x=7×3=21
