length = x-5 cm
breadth = 8 cm
a) area of rectangle =length ×breadth
3x=8 (x-5)
3x=8x-40
5x=40
x=8 cm
b)perimeter of rectangle =2 (length+breadth )
40=2 (x-5+8)
40=2x+6
2x=34
x=17
