Step-by-step explanation:

Question:-

solve for x and y

0.2x+0.3y=1.3 ........(i)eq

0.4x+0.5y=2.3 ........(ii)eq

solution:-

multiplying each of the equation by 10

10(0.2x+0.3y)=10(1.3) .........(i)eq

10(0.4x+0.5y)=10(2.3) ..........(ii)eq

by multiplying by 10 we get

2x+3y=13 ...........(i)eq

4x+5y=23 ...........(ii)eq

By using substitution method

take eq(i)

2x+3y=13

2x=13-3y

x =  \frac{13 - 3y}{2}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ........(i)eq

now put the value of x on (ii) equation we get

4x + 5y = 23 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  ........(ii)eq

4( \frac{13 - 3y}{2} ) + 5y = 23

2(13 - 3y) + 5y = 23

26-6y+5y=23

26-y=23

-y=23-26

-y=-3

y=3

now put the value of y on (i) eq

x =  \frac{13 - 3 \times 3}{2}

x =  \frac{13 - 9}{2}

x =  \frac{4}{2}

x=2

value of y=3 and x=2
