And

Let the salary of sumit be = 3x

increase in Ravi's salary is 4000

Now, his new salary becomes 2x + 4000

Similarly For sumit

new salary of sumit becomes 3x + 4000

Ratio of new salary is 40 : 57

( 2x + 4000)/(3x + 4000) = 40/57

114x + 228000 = 120x + 160000

114x - 120x = 160000 - 228000

-6x = -68000

x = 34000/3

Therefore, salary of summit is 3 × ( 34000)/3

= 34000Rupess.
