paasing marks = 40% of x - 28
40/100 × x -28
4/10 x - 28 -(2)
By (1) and (2)
3/10 x + 12 = 4/10x - 28
3x+120/10 = 4x - 280/10
3x+120 = 4x - 280
x = 400
Total marks = 400
req. marks for passing = 30/100 × 400 + 12
=120+12
=132 marks
pass % required = 132/400×100=33 %

30%of x+12 =40%of x-28
30x+1200=40x -2800
-10x =-4000
