Solution

Here,

A fruit seller buys 504 oranges .

∵ 12 oranges = 1 dezen.

•°• 504 oranges = ( 1/12) × 504 = 42 dozen .

He buys 42 dozen oranges at Rs 4 a dozen

That's means,

➠ Cost price of 42 dozen orange = 42 × 4

➠ Cost price of 42 dozen orange = Rs 168

Now,

He sells 240 means 240/12 = 20 dozen oranges at Rs 5 a dozen .

➠ first selling price = 20 × 5 = Rs 100

And, he sells (42-20)=22 dozen orange at Rs 6 a dozen

➠ Second selling price = 22 × 6

➠ Second selling price = Rs 132

So,

➠ Total selling price = 100 + 132 = Rs 232

Fruits seller 42 dozen orange buys in Rs 120 and sell Rs 232

That's means he got here grain.

So,

Grain = total selling price - cost price

➠ Grain = 232 - 168

➠ Grain = Rs 64

Now,

★% Grain = grain × 100/cost price

➠ % Grain = 64 × 100/168

➠ % Grain = 6400× 168

➠ % Grain = 38.09 %.

Hence:-

  • Fruits seller got 38.09% grain in 42 dozen orange .
