Parallel resistances formula ,    R_{par}=R_1+R_2+R_3

Series resistances formula,    \frac{1}{R_{ser}} =\frac{1}{R_1} +\frac{1}{R_2} +\frac{1}{R_3} +...

So now take resistances order as     R_1,R_2,R_3,R_4

First two resistances are in series, so

                      R_{12}=R_1+R_2

Now third and fourth resistances are in parallel,so

                           \frac{1}{R_{34}}=\frac{1}{R_3}  +\frac{1}{R_4}\\\\ =>R_{34}=\frac{R_3.R_4}{R_3+R_4}

Now           R_{12},R_{34} are in parallel,so\\R_{1234}=R_{tot}=R_{12}+R_{34}\\\\=>R_1+R_2+\frac{R_3.R_4}{R_3+R_4}
