Group 17 elements are highly reactive because their atomic size is small and have more nuclear charge and thus can gain electrons easily to become stable

sonisourabh: we are discussing about group 17 that are non metals
babulalrathoremsj: Yeah as we go to group 17 atomic size becomes small and there is more nuclear charge so they can gain electrons easily
babulalrathoremsj: Nucleus consist protons which are positively charged and thus nuclear charge is important factor in reactivity
princesspranjal24: just 1.more doubt:IN PERIODS-Reactivity first decreases upto grp 14 and then increases? Y
sonisourabh: in periods, reactivity increases upto 14 because in period, metallic character increases from left to right and metals are present in 14th group. thereafter, non metal starts and we know that in period, non metallic character decreases left to right
sonisourabh: the metals are present from 1-14 group
princesspranjal24: oookk... thnx soooooooo veryyyyy much...
sonisourabh: welcome bro
princesspranjal24: bro....
sonisourabh: ✌️

Because they are very unstable non metals and so they combine with many elements to get stability. For non metals reactivity increases from left to right. so they are very reactive .
HOPE THIS MAY HELP U

princesspranjal24: u r wrong
princesspranjal24: no no
mahimahee: say why
mahimahee: it is wrong
sonisourabh: because it's answer should be given by electron gain enthalpy
mahimahee: By my knowledge I had given the answer. And thank u for u it
sonisourabh: most welcome
