Let the 2 digit no. is 10x + y

10 x + y = 7 (x + y)

10x + y = 7x + 7y

10x - 7x = 7y - y

3x = 6y

x= 2y. eq1

10y + x = 10 x + y - 18

9x - 9y = 18

Take 9 common

x - y = 2. eq2


Now put x = 2y

2y - y = 2

y = 2

Put y in eq. 1

x = 2y

x = 2×2 = 4

Hence the No. is 10x + y

10 × 4 + 2 = 42
