the box is experiencing friction Force, gravitational force due to its own box and the force u r applying.

The box will start to slide only when it will overcome the limiting friction ( max value of static friction)

and the value of static friction depends on weight and coefficient of friction

So, if weight of is increased then u will have to apply for force for sliding the box.

and same is the case, if we make the surface more rough then coefficient of static friction will increase, thus more force will be required to slide it.
