We know that Pressure exerted by Fluid is given by :

  • P = ρgh
  • Where ρ is the Density of the Fluid
  • g is the Acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s²
  • h is the depth of the Fluid

Given Height of the Tank = 2m

Pressure exerted by water in the Rectangular tank at the bottom is :

⇒ P = 1000 × 9.8 × 2 = 19600 N/m²

We know that Thrust is the Force acting Normally to a Surface and Pressure is Thrust Force acting per unit Area.

Pressure = \frac{Thrust}{Area}

Thrust = Pressure \times Area

⇒ Given the Base Area = 100 m²

⇒ Thrust = 19600 × 100 = 1960000 = 1.96 × 10⁶ Newton
