area \: of \: shaded \: region = area \: of \: square - area \: of \: circle = 28 \times 28 - \pi \:  \times 14 \times 14 \\  = 14 \times 14(2 \times 2 - 3.14) \\ =  196 \times .86 \\  = 168.56 {in}^{2}

the answer is 168.56
first of all find the area of square
and then find area of circle
now remove area of circle from area of the square
hope this helps you quickly

Guyz37: Thank you sooooo much
Tharuni100: thank you for marking as brainliest
Tharuni100: my pleasure
KarthikM: The short formula is -- First find the area of the square that is 28 × 28 = 784 . Then find the area of circle that is its diameter is 28, so its radius is 14 in . Area = πr 2 = 3.14 × 14 ×14 = 615.44 . So to get the area of shaded region ---area of square- area of circle= 784 - 615.44 = 168.56 in2
