velocity = slope of graph = change in displacement in given interval of time .
a) (1) velocity in interval 0 ≤ t ≤ 5
velocity = ( 3m - 0 m )/( 5s - 0s) = 3/5 m/s
(ii) velocity in interval 5 ≤ t ≤ 7
velocity = ( 3m -3m )/( 7s -5s ) = 0
(iii) velocity in interval 7 ≤ t ≤ 9
velocity = ( 7 m - 3m)/(9s - 7s) = 2 m/s
b) average velocity in interval 5 ≤ t ≤ 9
av velocity = ( position of particle at t = 9 - position of particle at t = 5)/( 9s - 5s )
= (7 m - 3m )/(9s -5s )
= 1 m/s
