HELLO THERE!

The attachment is not clear; I managed to read out the question which says:

Concentrated sulphuric acid reacts with X to form an unsaturated compound Y. Further, X reacts with Sodium to form a colourless gas Z.

The unsaturated compound talked about (Y) is ethylene (ethene).

Compound X is Ethanol.

Colourless gas Z is Hydrogen.

Ethanol + Concentrated Sulphuric acid produces Ethylene.

Reaction: C₂H₅OH -----conc.H₂SO₄-------> C₂H₄ + H₂O

And, Ethanol reacts with Sodium to form Sodium ethoxide and Hydrogen.

2C₂H₅OH + 2Na ------> 2C₂H₅ONa + H₂

In the reaction to produce Ethylene from Ethanol,

sulphuric acid acts as a Dehydrating Agent.

HOPE MY ANSWER IS SATISFACTORY...

Thanks!
