AnsWer :

i ) 600 cm.

ii ) 875 cm.

QuestioN :

Q 10 : a) A 5m 60cm hight of vertical pole casts of shadow 3m 20cm long. Find at the same time.

i ) the length of the shadow casts by another pole 10m 50cm high

ii ) the height of pole which casts a shadow 5m long.

SolutioN :

Let's Convert given metre to centimetres.

 \tt  \bullet \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 5m \: 60cm \mapsto 5 \times 100 + 60 = 560cm.

 \tt  \bullet \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 3m \: 20cm \mapsto 3 \times 100 + 20 = 320cm.

Taking ( i )

Let's Length of shadow caste be x cm.

 \tt \dagger \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \dfrac{Height \:  of  \: pole }{length\: shadow\: cast}  =  \dfrac{Other \: Height \:  of  \: pole }{Other \:length\: shadow\: cast}

 \tt :  \implies \dfrac{560}{360}  =  \dfrac{1050}{x}

 \tt :  \implies x=  \dfrac{1050 \times 360}{560}

 \tt :  \implies x = 600cm.

 \rule{130}2

( ii ) Let's the height of pole is y cm.

 \tt :  \implies \dfrac{560}{360}  =  \dfrac{y}{500}

 \tt :  \implies y =  \dfrac{560 \times 500}{360}

 \tt :  \implies y =  875cm.

Therefore, the value of x is 600 cm and y = 875 cm.
