Answer:

Option d) 0.9

Given,

P(A U B) = 0.8 and P(A ∩ B) = 0.3

To find,

P(A) + P(B) = ?

Solution,

If two events A and B are independent then,

P(A ∪ B)= P(A) + P(B) -P(A ∩ B)

Place the values directly.

==> 0.8 = P(A) + P(B) - 0.3

==> P(A) + P(B) = 1.1

We have to solve p(A') + P(B')

  • P(A') + P(B') = (1 - P(A))(1 - P(B))

==> 2 - (P(A) + P(B))

==> 2 - 1.1

=> 0.9

Result:

P(A) + P(B) = 0.9
