Superintendent of Police,
Katni.
Sir,
I want to draw your attention to the nuisance caused by the use of loudspeakers. I am
a student of Govt. School of Excellence, Katni appearing for the class X Examination
of the M. P. Board. It is a time when all the students are busy day and night preparing
for the coming Board Examinations. Their success depends much on the proper use of
their time and the concentration of their minds. It is regrettable that majority of citizens
do not realise the importance of this time for students. They enjoy full liberty to use
loudspeakers at their highest pitch to celebrate every occasion that comes to wa
hands. The result is that we are unable to make preparations in the right way.
I therefore, request you to impose a ban on the use of loudspeakers for the perce
Board Examinations and punish those who are found guilty.
Thanking you.

Answer:

Applications are generally written to a specific person like it is Superintendent of police in the question. So, we write a letter addressed to that person and write our application or the problem in the body. And the subject in the subject part. This is why formal letters are there.
