\bf\underline{Answer:-}

x = 1/2 and y = 1/3

\bf\underline{Step\:by\:step\:solution:-}

Given,

x + y = 5xy -------- (i)

3x + y = 13xy ---- (ii)

To eliminate x,

1. Multiply the equation (i) by 3

•°• We have,

(x × 3) + (y × 3) = (5xy × 3)

=> 3x + 3y = 15xy --- (iii)

2. Subtract equation (ii) by (iii)

•°• We get,

3x + y = 13xy (-) 3x + 3y = 15xy

=> -2y = -2xy

1 = 2x

1/2 = x

Now, putting the value of x in any of the equation we get, [I'm taking equation (i)]

x + y = 5xy

1/2 + y = (5 × 1/2 × y)

1/2 = (5/2)y - y

1/2 = (3/2)y

1 = 3y

1/3 = y
