There is loss of vegetation because of deforestation so, there are no trees to hold the rain water and make it percolate soil and recharge groundwater. Thus most of the rain waterinstead of percolating in ground is directed to the rivers.

Excess deforestation, pollution of water bodies, excess water shortage caused due to depleting water table is causing us to suffer despite having good rains
